The Abubakar Asiddiq Islamic Center on Industrial Mile Road: a two-storey off-white building with sage green arched panels framing pairs of windows, and a terracotta base.

From a storefront to ten acres, built by its own community.

Masjid AbuBakar, the Abubakar Asiddiq Islamic Center, on Columbus’ West Side. Five daily prayers, three Jumuah khutbahs, open to all.

Twenty years, two addresses.

AAIC started with a handful of families renting a storefront on Sullivant Avenue. Ten years later, they opened a masjid of their own.

The new masjid opens on about ten acres. More than 600 come to Friday prayers, and 250 children attend Quran classes.

Planned at opening as the next phase. Today it holds the library, classrooms and the event hall.

  5. 2023 30,000+ square feet

About 7,000 worshippers come through every week, according to director Horsed Nooh. October 2024 marked ten years in the building.
